Healthy Skin Tips That Keep You From Being Poisoned

When you think about your body's organs, chances are you think about the internal organs, like the heart, lungs and other hidden parts of the body. But, in fact, the largest organ of the human body is the one that is more visible than all the rest – our skin.

That means having excellent overall health includes having healthy skin. In other words, you can't just take care of your innards, you have to make sure that the huge organ that canvases your body is in tip-top shape too.

Here are a few healthy skin tips to prevent unnecessary toxins from invading your body.

Feed Your Skin

It's amazing the sheer amount of chemicals that people will put on their skin, without thinking twice. Products, like perfumes, lotions, soaps, deodorants and sunscreens are very common products that people fairly lather on without a second thought

Imagine if you had to eat any of those things.

Do you think you would stay healthy if you sat down to a nice meal of perfumed soap, followed by a sunscreen spritzer?

This may sound outrageous, but the substances that you put directly on your skin actually get into your bloodstream faster than the foods that you eat. And since none of us would sit down to the kind of meal I just described, it only goes without saying that you shouldn't be feeding your skin these substances either.

The most important of all the healthy skin tips in this article is to remember: “If you wouldn't eat it, don't put it on your skin.”

Staying Clean

Of all the things that come into contact with your skin, soap is probably the most common, everyday item. After all, soap helps you to stay clean and it can ward off unwanted body odors. And no one is saying that you should not use soap, but try to think twice about the types of soaps that you use.

Like all of the other skin care products that you use, the chemicals in soap are pumped directly into your bloodstream every time you take a shower or wash your hands. So try to get soaps that contain raw, organic vegan ingredients such as aloe vera, shea butter, cactus leaf, essential oils, etc.

And always avoid using soaps, or other products, that have been tested on animals. It's bad karma to smell good at the expense of an animal's well being. Our healthy skin tips to you for staying clean, is to go as natural with your soap as you would with your food.

Other Products

It's probably best for you to do an assessment of all the chemicals that you regularly put on your body. From the time you get up and shower, list the things that you put on your body. Simply going through this exercise can be a real eye-opener. Most people put more toxins directly onto their skin than they think. And once you've listed all of the things that you put on your body, take a look at their ingredients.

The key to using healthy skin tips is awareness. Unless you slow down, and realize all of the chemical substances that you subject your body too, you'll never be able to minimize them. And while it may be a bit unrealistic for anyone to eliminate all the products that are bad, you can certainly take some steps and either eliminate using certain products or find a healthier alternative to replace them.
