Digestive problems have been causing more difficulties for people in recent years, than ever before. It seems like every few days a new kind of syndrome or condition is discovered and labeled to describe some sort of digestive problem.
Of course, with this onslaught of digestive issues, it's very easy to see that our diets are out of control. Foods go directly to the stomach, and all over the world stomachs are rebelling and causing discomfort, sickness and death in reaction to the types of foods that we eat.
Wheat intolerance may be one of the most common food reactions that people have, and it can be a very difficult condition to live with.
Poisoned by Wheat?
When we think about wheat, we have been conditioned to think of it as a healthy, wholesome food that we should all base our diets on. Simply take a walk through the grocery store and see how many products proudly display “Whole Wheat” stickers and signs. The unfortunate truth, is that many people are simply allergic to wheat and adding these foods to their diets will result in some of the very stomach conditions already discussed.
When someone is allergic to wheat gluten, it is like being poisoned by the very foods that they eat. Their bodies recognize wheat as an intruder and go to work trying to rid the body of this infection. The end results are sickness, violent reactions to foods high in gluten and a miserable digestive system that is always in a state of upheaval, nausea or heartburn. The medical community may attribute these symptoms to IBS, or other disorders, but the underlying truth for millions of people is wheat intolerance is what is causing them pain and discomfort.
Going Gluten Free – Probably Not
Many people have caught on to the fact that they are sensitive to the gluten contained in wheat foods. In an effort to keep this substance from their diets, they go gluten free. Unfortunately, many of the foods that are supposed to be gluten free end up being polluted with gluten during the processing stages. So that even foods, like oats, which should be naturally free from gluten, end up coated with it and causing people digestive problems.
Carefully note how certain foods make you feel, and systematically eliminate them from your diet, if they cause you pain or discomfort, even if they are labeled as gluten free.
Find Out for Yourself
Of course, you can't diagnose whether or not you are allergic to wheat products simply by reading an article. You should schedule a blood test to check for gluten sensitivity to find out for sure. You can go the extra mile and get a tissue sample from your intestines. Since either test could come back with a false negative, it's best to get both to find out for sure.
Wheat intolerance can make your life absolutely miserable. Take steps to stop it by eliminating wheat products from your diet. Be sure to keep eating healthy foods, like fruits and vegetables, though, and make sure that you consume plenty of living water every day.
You don't have to live with an unhealthy digestive system, you simply need to know what foods to avoid, and for many of us, those foods are anything containing gluten. So, 100% Whole Wheat may not be as healthy as it's been cracked up to be after all.
